For the purpose of this challenge … TWIN CITIES are defined as cities with the same name located in different states.
You must be a current member of the Texarkana, Texas, USA HOG Chapter #5174.
This requires that you are also a member of the National HOG.
This is a two part contest/challenge that will earn you a patch just by completing the first phase of this challenge. You DO NOT have to finish the second phase in order to receive your patch. The challenge/contest is not over until the end of the year.
The object of the first phase is to visit and document your ride to each of the designated stops below. All of the stops in this first phase are less than 150 miles. If there is more than one city of the same name in the state, the “designated city” below will show the county in parenthesis. You must provide the Activities Officer with photo proof (dated photo of member, motorcycle, and identifying landmark – post office, city limits sign, city hall, police department, etc.). This is all it takes to earn your patch.

Second phase is to accumulate points by making additional twin city stops. This will determine the winner of the TWIN CITY TOUR. Our sponsoring dealership, Doolin’s Harley-Davidson, is donating prizes for this phase of the tour.
Points for the second phase accrue as follows: additional “twin cities” – 1 point per one-way mile to destination (as determined by MapQuest). Example – Midland, TX – 510 miles and Midland, LA – 318 miles for a total of 828 miles, which equates to 828 points. Additional “twin city” stops will also require photo proof as in the first phase. BONUS POINTS – In addition to mileage points, earn bonus points for multiple state twin cities (example – Austin, TX, Austin, OK, Austin, AR and Austin, LA – besides the mileage points for each destination city, earn 100 extra points for each additional “twin city”. In this case, points would be awarded for the mileage to each destination plus 200 bonus points for 2 additional “twin cities”.) All “twin city” stops must be in the 4 states of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma or Louisiana.
Any questions or disputes will be resolved by a committee of, no fewer than, 3 officers.
THIS CONTEST/CHALLENGE DOES NOT END UNTIL THE LAST REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF 2008. ALL DOCUMENTATION/PHOTOS SHOULD BE TURNED IN TO THE ACTIVITIES OFFICER BY THAT TIME.
TIPS FROM THE TOUR
1) The only discernable landmark at Midway, Texas is the Baptist church.
2) In Stamps, Texas you will have to take your picture next to the historical marker for the Stamps school.
3) At the intersection in Glenwood, Texas (FM 726 and FM 3358) there is Glenwood Mini-storage. The sign for this business has the phone number with area code.
4) Unity, Texas is north of Paris in Lamar County
5) Unity, AR is in Howard County (close to Nashville).
6) Midway, LA is in Bossier Parish (north of Shreveport). Midway, LA (Bossier) is at the intersection of 157 and 162. Take your picture with both highway signs in the background or in the church parking lot at that intersection.
7) Dixie (Pulaski), AR is a stop that should be made in the daylight hours. The easiest-to-find photo opp is the electrical switch station on Sam Evans DR. Make sure you include the "NORTH LITTLE ROCK - DIXIE - SWITCH STATION" sign in your photo.
8) Mt. Pleasant, AR (Nevada) is nothing more than the intersection of Hope Rd. and CR118. Your photo opp here is the CR118 sign.
9) Jefferson, AR (Columbia) is supposed to be on Hwy 82 between CR344 and AR98. We were unable to find anything. For safety's sake please use the CR344 East sign off of Hwy 82 for your photo opp.
10) The only photo opp we found in Dixie, LA was the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Hwy 3049.
